Well well, looks like the Dev team have been busy as today they release PwnageTool 4.0. This version will Jailbreak/Unlock iPhone 3G/3GS (Using the old bootrom) and the iPod Touch 2G with OS 3.1.3/iOS 4, more after the jump!
As expected, the OS 4.0 firmware for the iPhone was released during the WWDC 2010 event. However, there is a name change. The firmware will no longer be called iPhone OS 4.0, but rather iOS 4. An interesting video has been posted on YouTube which demonstrates either a new feature included in the OS 4.0 firmware or perhaps a bug that Apple have yet to fix up. Today, April 8th, Apple are having an event where they will be telling us about, and hopefully releasing, the OS 4.0 firmware for all their iDevices. Some features expected to be released in OS 4.0 are multi-tasking, a redesign of the homescreen and potentially some themes (custom backgrounds like on the iPad).

Apple have announced their latest event which will be on the iPhone OS 4 and will be taking place on April 8th. This comes as surprising news as it is so close to the release of the iPad but hey, I’m not complaining. I can’t wait to see what Apple have in store for us with OS 4.0.

You would think that after 3 firmware updates, Apple would have done something about the battery percentage errors people were experiencing back as OS 3.0 but no, they have not. From the above screenshot sent in by Richard Sparrow on his iPhone with OS 3.1.2, you can clearly see the problem is still there.

Coca Cola has managed to find a superb trick allowing iPod Touch 3rd generation 8GB only users to downgrade their unjailbreakable OS 3.1.3 firmware devices to OS 3.1.2 without the need of a stored SHSH on Cydia. Apple have decided to strike back at jailbreakers today and have stopped signing the OS 3.1.2 firmware for the iPhone and iPod Touch. That means that users who DID NOT save their TSS using Cydia TSS saving feature will no longer be able to restore to any firmware BUT 3.1.3. Read the rest of this entry »
