This custom firmware allows you to play games requiring 5.50 and 6.00 on your PSP 3000 with 5.03 GEN-B firmware.

Magixien has added this note:

We failed to achieve our initial goals but the main thing is unless it happens and can play games with 5.55 + and protected.

Features included in this firmare:

compatible with the PSP-3000 and PSP-2000 v3 official firmware 5.03

playing UMD require firmware above 5.03, including 6.xx

playing UMD / ISO games protected against the CFW

play PS1 games

In fact, the menu sees some of his lines not properly allocated and others who do not work. Note that on a PSP-3000, the recovery is useless, or nearly so, since all the useful features found in the VSH menu or in Ultimate VSH menu Total_Noob of Total Noob we strongly recommend that you install.

DarK AleX, the most well known PSP hacker out there, has announced that he has no plans for a 5.50m33 custom firmware to be installed with the recently related ChickHEN which is a homebrew enabler for PSP 1000, 2000 and 3000.

Here is what he said:

ChickHEN does NOT play ISO/PSX/similar files. So, if you want to play your backups, use your UMD’s instead.

So, ChickHEN does (now with R2) play homebrew, for every single model and mobo revision to date.

Want to see a Compatibility List? Click here

ChickHEN does NOT allow flash changes. Therefore, if you use any app that installs anything on flash0 (cfw, themes, whatever), you will end with a brick. And no, there is no (actual) solution to this for the 88v3/3k models.

You are getting problems loading the HEN? Be sure to have copied all the images onto PHOTO dir, and if you are can’t load it, shutdown completely the PSP, restart and try again. (Pressing X when the image icon has appeared, and wait)

Update! Even if DarK AleX isn’t making a version, the GENyUS team have released 5.50GEN-a!
