In light of the news we posted a while back about Sherif Hashim having exploited the 05.12.01 baseband, the Dev Team given some more info about the exploit and about future unlocks.

Firstly, they have corrected the previous news that the baseband had been exploited. It is apparently not fully true. Sherif has managed to crash the baseband which will probably cause an exploit to be found but it hasn’t been found yet.

In light of the OS 3.1.3 firmware update that was issued by Apple a couple of days ago, the Dev Team firstly went ahead and released a new version of their muti-OS jailbreaking tool Redsn0w.

Perhaps due to concern over the release of Sn0wybreeze which has caused some users to have trouble when jailbreak their devices, they have gone ahead and released a new version of their PwnageTool application allowing users to create custom IPSW files on Macs. Read the rest of this entry »

Another alternative to the Redsn0w jailbreak for OS 3.1.3 is Sn0wbreeze as iH8sn0w have release a new version of their program to work with OS 3.1.3.

Sn0wbreeze is essentially a Windows port of the Dev Team’s PwnageTool. It allows you to create custom IPSW firmwares (allowing you to maintain your current baseband when updating). Read the rest of this entry »

In light of yesterdays new iPhone/iPod Touch firmware release, the Dev Team did some experimenting with Redsn0w 0.9.2 and with a bit of edting made it compatible with OS 3.1.3. This jailbreak works on the majority of devices (the iPod Touch 1st and 2nd gen and the iPhone 2G and 3G) but does not work on the iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3rd generation. In fact, it is STRONGLY recommended that iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3rd gen users avoid the OS 3.1.3 altogether if they want to jailbreak and unlock their phones/iPods in the future. Redsn0w is a jailbreaking tool created by the Dev Team which allows you to jailbreak your device as well as change the boot logo and enable verbose mode.

The iPhone Dev-Team has finally released RedSnow 0.9, a program that is capable of unlocking and customizing iPhones and iTouches. Customizing includes changing the boot logos, recovery mode logos, and “verbose” boot. It’s a standalone program that doesn’t use iTunes (no custom IPSWs are involved). Read the rest of this entry »

A beta of a new version of the iPhone/iPod Touch jailbreaking program called Redsn0w created by the Dev Team has been released. This version, version 0.9, brings it up to line with Blackra1n as it is compatible with OS 3.1.2 and all device EXCLUDING the iPod Touch 3rd generation.
