An AMD Phenom II X6 Build…
Hey guys, apologies for the lack of posts recently. It seems that summer doesn’t help clear up my schedule, rather i have work now… so yeah.
Anyhow, I have come to give you an idea for a nice cheap hex core build. The budget? 1k. Purpose? This is mainly a build for multimedia, as that is the main purpose of the hex core, multitasking, encoding, video editing, and such. Usually, I prefer Intel, but hey, AMD does have a larger value for performance…. ^^. Remember, all prices are in Canadian, and are based from Newegg. Some of the prices may change over time from sales, and i haven’t added shipping. Anyways, here we go!
#Edit: I have posted this at both AllTechRelated and projectFight, so if you find it on both sites, please note that it is not copying, rather I have just decided to post this awesome thing on both sites.#

During Apple’s antenna keynote yesterday, Steve Jobs made sure to show all iPhone 4 users out there that it isn’t only the iPhone 4 that has antenna issues. New Digg Allows for Auto-Submission
I’ve had the opportunity to check out the Digg redesign which goes into effect sometime next month. I will be submitting a full review soon but right now I just wanted to talk about something quick and touch upon a feature that could be very useful to ATR.
Backup, Backup, RAID, more Backups
This is Chase Jarvis talking about what he does with his photos, from shutter release to the archives.
A lot of cameras. 64 TB of storage on his server. Everything redundantly backed up. A large team of techies. This is one crazy studio, and I wish I had the same technology budget as him.
Messenger Plus Extension

I suppose you all use Windows Live Messenger right? Well if you do, you can get this awesome extension called Messenger Plus! What can it do? Well, let’s talk about the new features without the scripts (yes, there are scripts and themes as well). Some cool things you can do include logging chats, locking messenger, having an auto responder, there are many many functions.

Hello MkII
Hello to everybody out there again. After nearly a year of absense, I’m back here on ATR.
I shall start talking about what brings me here. I have been into photography for about 3 years now, and decided to blog about it. I had to leave another blog, and here I am now, helping Psp2468 and his team of writers in the development of this great blog.
My interests – music and photography.
I dearly hope my stay here will be indefinite. As long as school and/or work don’t get in my way, I’ll strive to write here as long as possible. Greetings to all of you, once again, and I hope you will enjoy reading what I have to write.

Canadian Copyright Reform – Bill C-32
As you may know, Canada has been working to create copyright reform. Today, the Canadian Government introduced Bill C-32. The official text can be found on http://www2.parl.gc.ca/HousePublications/Publication.aspx?Docid=4580265&file=4. I was just surfing around today, when I remembered about the Canadian Coalition of Electronic Rights. I read their article, and saw all the things that had changed from the older and controversial Bill C-61.
Grooveshark: iTunes for the Internet

After I deleted my iTunes a long time ago, I found myself using dTunes on my iPod more than ever. Why sync songs over if you can get them there and then? Sure, not as organized, but I know what the filenames of my songs are, and what folder they’re in. When I’m at home I don’t use my iPod for music, I use my laptop. I’d usually go on YouTube, find a song I wanted to listen to, and use a Chrome extension to loop the video.
Recently though a friend showed me Grooveshark, and it’s hard not to love it. Read the rest of this entry »
My Visit to TWiT
On May 5th I got to be a sit-in guest at Leo Laporte’s TWiT Cottage, in the small town of Petaluma, California, where the show This Week in Google was being filmed at the time I was there. Afterwards I got to interview Leo about how he got where he is today, including questions about TechTV, the defunct station he used to work at before it went under. Read the rest of this entry »

The MPAA Wants in to Your Cable Box

Currently, while the FCC says it is fighting for net neutrality in order to protect the consumer, it seems like it is doing the complete opposite when it comes to its latest act that seems to benefit the entertainment industry. The federal corporation has given in to corporate interests again when it comes to technology, this time allowing the Motion Picture Association of America access any cable box, at any given moment.
What this enables the MPAA do to is to turn off any outputs at any time period, forcing the user to watch only the content that the corporate giant deems as “legal”. Read the rest of this entry »
BumpTop: 3D desktop for your computer

Now this is pretty cool. You may have heard about the 3D desktop back in 2006 when a prototype video was uploaded to YouTube, but since then it has become much more. BmupTop is a new type of desktop for your computer, turning your desktop into an actual desk, with files as physical objects, large or small, in organized stacks, or however else you want to sort them. Recently BumpTop has been acquired by Google, and the downloads for the latest version will shortly be removed from the site, but you can still get them here.
