Yet more bad news from the Apple account. Only a month after the iTunes scandal where some hackers managed to hack into numerous iTunes account and buy their own apps in an attempt to get them into the top 10 of the App Store. iTunes 9.2.1 Released – Jailbreakers Stay Away

Apple have released yet another iTunes update today. The version number is now brought up to 9.2.1. The change log boasts bug fixes and a couple new fixes. App Store is Hacked for a Second Time

Something is definitely wrong. Apple, one of biggest and supposedly most secure companies out there, has had it’s Application Store hacked for a second time. The first was done by a developer called Thuat Nguyen hacked into numerous iTunes account and bought his own apps in an effort to get them into the top 10 of the AppStore. Apple removed his apps and claimed that everything was OK and back to normal.

Apple have issued a statement regarding the the hacks that they were subjected to by a hacker called Thuat Nguyen who hacked into 400 different iTunes accounts and bought applications totaling approx. $100 – 140 on each account in an effort to get his apps into the top 10 of the AppStore. Apple have really messed up this time. A hacker, who goes by the name of mycompany, has managed to hack the account of hundreds of iTunes users and spent 100s, sometimes 1000s of there money buying his apps in an effort to raise his app into the top 10 apps on iTunes.

Grooveshark: iTunes for the Internet

After I deleted my iTunes a long time ago, I found myself using dTunes on my iPod more than ever.  Why sync songs over if you can get them there and then?  Sure, not as organized, but I know what the filenames of my songs are, and what folder they’re in.  When I’m at home I don’t use my iPod for music, I use my laptop.  I’d usually go on YouTube, find a song I wanted to listen to, and use a Chrome extension to loop the video.

iTunes 9.1 – Safe for Jailbreakers but Breaks Blackra1n

Apple have released a new version of iTunes with changes include support for iPad syncing and security improvements. Generally, it is safe for jailbreakers as all of Dev Team’s tools, PwnageTool and Redsn0w, still work on it however, GeoHot’s Blackra1n tool no longer works so if you are planning on using that, do not update!

EDIT: There is now a fix for the Blackra1n problem.

Apple Starts Count Down to 10 Billion iTunes Music Downloads

Apple have starting counting down from 112,000 towards a massive 10 billion music downloads from iTunes since iTunes was created in 2003.

To celebrate this, Apple have decided to hold a competition for the person who downloads the 10 billionth song gets a $10,000 iTunes gift card.
