With the new Redsn0w program it is now possible to change the boot logo and enable verbose mode on OS 3.1.2 with all devices EXCEPT those with MC in their serial codes plus the iPod Touch 3rd generation.

In light of Apple stopping signing the OS 3.1.2 firmwares, you now need a saved SHSH file that Cydia has been backing up for a while now.
