Canon 60D: My Thoughts

Posted by T1T4N1UM August - 31 - 2010 - Tuesday ADD COMMENTS

Very old news by now, but this is the new (kinda) Canon 60D, fitting itself between the T2i and the 7D, and going head to head with the Nikon D40.

Ok… that’s a bit harsh, but that’s what I think about the 60D. Anyways, it’s going to compete with the D7000/D95 (The D90 replacement), which, according to NikonRumors, will be coming on the 8th or the 15th.

Specs and Thoughts after the jump.

A bit of History on Poloroid Cameras

Edwin Land, creator of Polaroid. His daughter whined to him about the time it takes to process film. So he went and developed this film/photograph combo, that ruled the world for half a century.

The first one debuted in 1948, called the Land Model 95. 1.5 million were made.

Tokina 16-28

Posted by T1T4N1UM July - 5 - 2010 - Monday 1 COMMENT

Tokina 16-28/2.8 is now official. A super-wideangle for full frame users.

Tokina-AT-X-16-28-F2

A very ugly lens, all in all. They call it weather-sealed. I’ve already lost my faith in regards to that term. I would assume no change in barrel size, based on this diagram, so perhaps this claim could be slightly promising.

24-70 Giveaway

Posted by T1T4N1UM July - 4 - 2010 - Sunday 1 COMMENT

LilKiwiGuy87 on Youtube is having a giveaway, as they go on holiday. It is a set of 30 questions, some personal, some off-topic. The prize is the Nikon 24-70 (The lens that I have, which is great in very many ways). Might I add that this lens is worth around 1800 dollars.

For those of you that don’t know, LilKiwiGuy87 runs NikonHelpHotline, a Youtube channel that pretty much reviews anything Nikon or compatible with Nikon. There is no voice, just background music and text. They do a pretty good job of introducing new things or reviewing some of the older stuff, however, I am a fairly fast reader, and I get pretty bored when their stuff.

update: contest is now over, but the answers are here

Nikkor 11/2000 mm

Posted by T1T4N1UM June - 6 - 2010 - Sunday ADD COMMENTS

This is one of the lenses that are too heavy to use, too expensive to take out of the house, and have so much zoom that you’ll never be able to find your subject. No focus rings, no option for slide in filters. Focusing is done from a knob on the back of the lens, and the filters are built into the lens. A professional could probably open up the lens and put new filters in. Aperture is fixed at f/11, which unfortunately means that adjustments have to be made by only iso and shutter speed. Degree of view is 1 degree 10 prime. It’s a mirror lens, which means the light is bounced around and around within the lens, instead of being refracted by glass. It’s for sale on ebay for US $18,300.

Nikon D4 Images Leaked

Posted by T1T4N1UM June - 4 - 2010 - Friday 1 COMMENT

Found this on NikonRumors. Comments tell me it is fake. I would believe so as well.

d4 front

Looking at the front, the handle for the right hand looks horribly blocky. Compare this to the vertical grip. That’s smooth. Also, the Nikon logo is horribly oversized, and the split in there for the pop-up flash looks a little too low. I cannot see an af-assist light, but this is a pro camera, and a pro lens would easily block it out. The whole thing just looks like it was not proportioned properly.

REVIEW: Motorola’s DROID

Posted by kevipapo1 November - 11 - 2009 - Wednesday 8 COMMENTS

I’ve always felt the mobile phone market to be different from any market.  It’s set up in such a way that there is no competition between pricing for a plan, only in coverage and the device you’ve got.  And when it comes down to buying the right device, you get what you need, then what you want.  Sometimes the bare minimums you need is just a phone that can call.  That’s what I have right now, an unlocked Sony Ericsson, with a T-Mobile prepaid minutes SIM card.  Then there’s what you want to have: texting, a data plan…This is all stuff I’d like to have but am not gonna pay for.  What I have right now is the cheapest for me, and works.

Except for one small problem: I don’t have a DROID.

What to expect at the Sept. 9th event?

Rock and Roll event logo

Apple announced their “Rock and Roll” event a while back.  Building up to the announcement was speculation on new devices and new software.  Following the buzz closely, I’ve summarized what I think we can expect at the new event.
