Last weekend I had one of my ‘impulse buying’ moments and bought the Sennheiser CX 400 – II headphones after reading a bunch of reviews and someone saying they were a ‘work of art’. After trying them out for a bit, I have decided to post my opinion about them.
The Sennheiser CX 400-II are noise cancelling in-ear earphones which include a volume adjuster on the cable. They come with many extra silicon tips ensuring that you will always find the right fit for your ear. The cable for the headphones is only 1.2m long which is a bit shorter than conventional headphones, but to me, this is good as you do not have a lot of extra cable swinging around when you wear them.
The headphones also come with a small leather carry case and a cord winder to keep the headphones in ship-shape and stop them from breaking in your pocket.
I’m going to start off with the look. These headphones are very small and barely stick out of your ear when they are in. This they look stylish and still remain discrete, but don’t be fooled by their size. Sennheiser have managed to put together a high quality pair of headphones into the small casing.
Bass on these headphones is heavy, clear and seems to resonate around the headphones giving a deep, powerful effect. Unlike some other headphones I have tried, the bass has been blocked to such a level that it doesn’t drown out the rest of your music, but still is enough to give you that ‘wow’ factor. Listening to a heavy-bass song like ‘Beamer, Benz or Bently’ by Lloyd Banks is a pleasure.
Clarity is something these headphones have accomplished to the tee. I know it’s a cliché to say this, but I have honestly heard things in songs that I have not heard using the standard Apple iPhone headphones. Listen to songs by Eminen with these allwo me enjoy every single bit of his poetic lyrics.
Noise cancellation is great in these headphones so much so that when I go biking, I can barely hear the traffic around me at all. This is definitely a big plus for these headphones. These headphones are also one of the most comfortable in-ear earphones I have ever worm. I once wore them for a two hour period and had absolutely no problems at all. I read a review on Amazon about a guy who wore these headphones during the whole of a 20 hour flight and didn’t have any pain either. That’s how comfortable these headphones truely are!
You need to be careful with the Sennheiser CX 400 – II (and in fact all the CX models) because there are A LOT of counterfeit models being sold on the internet. If the price seems to good to be true, it probably is. If you are going to buy them, I would recommend buying them only from a trustworthy source like Amazon.
You can buy the Sennheiser CX 400-II headphones for $99.99 on Amazon.
