A while back we posted about a new dev team called S4PH who had decided create an untethered jailbreak for the iPod Touch 3rd generation. Currently the only jailbreak for the iPod Touch 3rd generation is with Blackra1n which is a tethered jailbreak (need to plug-it in everytime you reboot) which isn’t good enough for many users.
The latest post on the S4PH blog says that the jailbreak is going to be released tomorrow.
The team have received A LOT of criticism claiming that there jailbreak is fake and they have tried to stop them by releasing a terrible quality video demonstrating the supposed jailbreak.

1. Connect iPod, end all iTunes/iPod related services in your Task Manager.
2. Run S4Evolve.exe
3. In the CMD, type /info
4. Read the info of your ipod. If your Software Version is anything later then 3.1.2, S4 will NOT WORK! (to our knowlege)
5. Type /myipod (touch) (phone) {eg. /myipod phone (so it knows if you’re on Touch or iPhone)
6. Once this is all complete, type /evolveme. This can’t be done unless it knows you’re on a Touch or iPhone
7. Wait for it to complete. This may take a few moments.
8. Your iPod is now jailbroken, but tethered. Now to fix that.
9. Reboot your iPod, it’ll go to the Connect to iPod Cable screen.
10. In g3k0_mod folder, run g3k0.exe. This should be nearly instant.
11. Restart the iPod again.
12. In the update folder, run 3.1.2.
13. Once that’s done, it will restart your iPod automatically.
14. Congratulations! Untethered iPod jailbreak. Enjoy.

Along with the above details, they have posted some final points that they wanted to get straight with the users:
1) We have no problems with you thinking it’s fake. We’re not here to convince you, only to keep you updated on our progress.
2) People seem more concerned about proof then the actual jailbreak itself. If so, I’ll just tell our main programmer, g3k0, to halt all the amazing progress he’s making and instead give you proof to make everyone else happy.
3) We’re not doing this for YOU. We’re doing this for ourselves because we, too, want an untethered jailbreak. So don’t give us bullshit making it sound like you’re our boss. Your not.
Could this be real? This wouldn’t be the first fake jailbeak because recently there was the whole scandel with Appuloha1l which also claimed to have a untethered jailbreak for the iPod Touch 3rd generation.
Let’s hope this team doesn’t let us down like Appuloha1l did. We will post the jailbreak once it is released so STAY TUNED!

“Guys, the only programs that have a “search control panel” option and even have a navigation link on top are either Windows Explorer or some other Microsoft program that comes built into Windows. Just go to a basic program such as notepad and look at the navigation, you will see that this is a fake, as the screen-shot is nothing like what a real program would look like. Also, does somebody want to explain why the back button is lit up in the program, it would be grayed out, or for that matter not even exist because this looks to be the first page of the program. Also, if you go to the bottom of the screen, it even says his control panel is active. I know everyone wants to be hopeful and really wants a jailbreak, I do too, but I can only imagine so far when I could have made a better looking fake. I would not have a problem if this was real, but until they can prove they have some real proof and not something badly photoshopped…”

I totally agree with Alex. Also, if you look closely at the picture, you can see that it isn’t the jailbreaking program. At the top right of the window, it says “Search Control Panel”. Funny. Looks like they forgot to photoshop that out of the picture. This is a fake.

No sadly not. There is no untethered jailbreak available for iPhone 3Gs with the new bootrom.
