Radio, something that I think is lacking on the iPhone, has finally arrived on the iPhone. However it’s not just any radio. It’s HD radio. Developers, iBiquity, sell a $80 radio receiver which makes radio possible on the iPhone.
With HD radio you can listen to digital and analog radio using your headphones as the antennae.
However, iBiquity are in talks with Apple to try and get the HD radio built into every iPhone and iPod Touch and are expected to release another smaller version which clips onto the bottom of your device.
The app that you use to control the frequency etc is free [iTunes Link]and includes these features:
- Amazing interface
- Tune manually using the wheel or using auto-seek
- Song and station information
- Tell you friends what your listening to through email, Twitter and Facebook
- Store your favorite stations
- See what’s playing on a station’s HD Radio channels
As I mentioned you need the radio reciever which can only be bought at RadioShack for $80.
