This is the product review of the Nuforce UF-30 ($79) headphones.
I have heard great things about the Nuforce company, about their headphones and their amplifiers and finally I have managed to get my hands on both of these. The headphones are the UF-30 headphones and the new Nuforce Icon Mobile amp (view review HERE). Check out our views on the headphones after the jump!
Nuforce UF-30 Headphones:
The Nuforce UF-30 headphones are a cheap, high-quality and sounding great pair of headphones. They come in three different colours, black, red and pearl white. They are over-the-head headphones which have adjustable size and fit nicely on your ears.
The headphones include Nuforce’s proprietary Ultrasone drivers which ensure that headphones pump out the music in it’s utmost clarity, tightness and maintain an excellent bass.
The UF-30’s also include Nuforce’s patented S-Logic Natural Surround Sound technology which gives the listener the impression that he is surround by his music.
On the left is a headphone with the S-Logic Natural Surround Sound included which makes the listener think that the music is coming from every direction (hence the name surround-sound). On the right is a conventional headphone which do NOT include the S-Logic Natural Surround Sound and the music appears to be coming from somewhere between the listeners ears.
Comfort:
The UF-30 headphones are made of a light metal and therefore only weight 85g. They are so light you barely notice them on you. However do not think that makes them feel cheap. Due to the skilled manufacturing of these headphones they manage to maintain a high quality and an expensive, solid feel to them.
The speakers within the headphones themselves are surrounded by a soft-material to cushion your ear. They then are covered in a thin layer of cloth which ensures dust etc cannot enter the speakers and damage them.
The arm of the speakers which goes around your head is made of plastic with no insulation or cushion of any sort which may mislead some to think that they are uncomfortable but I ensure you, they are not.
The arms can be adjusted to the size of your head and lock in the position you want well enough to ensure they stay as they are and are sturdy on top of your head.
The headphones fold up for added portability and come with a small but stylish bag to keep your headphones safe if you place them in a bag.

The Look:
As I mentioned early, the headphones themselves are available in three different colours, red, black and pearl white. The colour covers the headphone, except for the logo which is encircled by a chrome metal, and extends up the arm of the headphones around half-way where the top becomes black.
The headphones overall look fine. They do not have any unnecessary aesthetic features, they maintain their simplistic and discreteness which makes them such great, portable, every day, headphones.
The Sound Quality:
After trying these headphones with a range of different song genres including rock, pop, rap and electronic I have come to the conclusion that they are quite simply great even without the Nuforce Mobile Icon (review HERE). The clearness of the music is great and is maintained even at very high volumes.
However the sound quality can only get better as the 40 hours of sonic-warm up hasn’t completed yet but even now I still believe they sound great. Because they sound so good on all the genres that I have tried, I think these are a great headphone for the users who have a wide variety of genres of music the listen to.
Extra Details:
The headphones are built to work with the iPhone and iPods (plus other mp3 players) as it’s default headphone jack is 3.5mm.
Here are the extra specification specified on the Nuforce website:
- Driver: Ultrasone® 30mm moving coil
- Impedance: 35 Ohm
- Plug: 3.5mm 3-pin Stereo
- Weight: 85g
- Accessory: Carrying Pouch
The bag itself only comes in one colour, black with red trim, but I think that looks fine. Due to the colours it ensures that both male and female can use the case without being self-conscious as youwould have felt if the bag had been made in, say, pink. It is a hard case to give extra protection to the headphones and has a small soft cushion piece to keep the headphones in place inside the bag.- Comfortable headphones for long listening.
- Portable, can be folded up.
- Sound quality is very good and works for a wide range of genres.
- Safe hearing (uses much lower sound pressure levels so can listen for longer without any discomfort)
- Comes in a three different colours (red, black and pearl white)
- The wire is not ridiculously long making it good for using everyday.
- The headphones do not contain the music you listen to only for you. If you wear these in public, everyone will know what your listening to.
- Are built to to sit a bit further back on your head (on the ‘crown’ of your head) making them slightly more prone to sliding off the back of your head – not a major problem.
