Pinch Media, one of the culprits in the ’spying on iPhone users’ scandel, have decided to released some of the information they have optained from iPhone users that use apps which use their service.

The data is all about jailbroken iPhone users and cracked apps.

Here are a few of the main points:

  • Pinch Media started doing these scans due to questions being raised by developers who were wondering why there apps were gettings more users than iTunes download stats where saying. This is when they found out all about cracked apps.
  • All the data that I am going to share is from a scan which involved around 4 million different iPhones, in which only 38% of users actually use cracked apps so therefore, people don’t only jailbreak to steal.
  • The app piracy is the worst in China, Russia, and Brazil and the least in USA, Great Britain, and Japan.
  • Of all the apps that are being used and contain the Pinch Media service, 60% of them are cracked.
  • People who download a cracked app are more likely then someone who downloaded it legitimately to stop using the app quicker.
  • One of the main ‘excuses’ of people using cracked apps is to supposedly try out the app before downloading. It turns out this is not the case because a mere 0.43% of cracked apps are paid for afterwards. Whilst with Lite apps, 7.4% of the users buy the full version later on.

That’s the main gist of the report however if you want to read the full version. Check it out HERE.
