Not too long ago, a YouTube user posted a video showing a PSP firmware “6.00 MAC-B”, proving that it was fake by disabling addons that fake the firmware version. The question was obvious: fake or not?
The development team behind the firmware has spoken up. They’re called Team Mack, and they’re hacking firmware 6.00 for the PSP. Here’s what they had to say:
They are using a Custom Theme, that is why it says Network update instead of 6.00’s System Update. 6.00 MAC-B can access PSN, they claim they will post a video of this soon. They can’t get games that require firmware 5.55 or 6.00 to run yet. That’s why its not demonstrated in the previous videos. Why no release yet. Team MAC claim they don’t want to release any betas that could brick PSP’s….(Bah most people have DCv8 and a Pandora handy to recover from bricks nowadays)
Looks like everyone’s dreams of having a CFW for 6.00 have come true. Let’s hope the release will be soon. Many new games are only compatible with firmware 6.00, including MotorStorm Arctic Edge and Gran Turismo (which to many people’s avail doesn’t spot any career mode). However, your essential question has been answered: yes, there will be a cracked PSP firmware 6.00, and it’s under development now.
