Looks like the Dev Team could hold out no longer and have released a jailbreak for 3.0 a few days after GeoHot releases Purplera1n. This version of Redsn0w (v0.8) now support the iPhone 2g, 3g, 3gs, and iPod Touch 2nd Gen on 3.0.
Main features are:
1) Stable jailbreak tested by dev-team
2) Icy + Cydia problem solved (we think).
3) Ultrasn0w tested and working on 3gs
4) Proper kernel patches which will enable logome (after it’s updated for 3.0).
5) Mobile Substrate + Winterboard now working on 3gs.
The actual jailbreak is very easy and self explanitory. The program will tell you what to do. If in doubt, post a comment and we will help you.

The Dev Team have also released a new version to Unltrasn0w (version 0.8) which has iPhone 3GS support as well. Download that through Cydia.
Hi my ipod 2g is now running on 3.0. But i cant jailbreak it wit redsnow 8.0. It does not get pass d 1st step. Please wat can i do cuz i really need jailbreak it. Tanx 4 ur help

do i have to rename the iPhone1,1_2.1_5F136_Restore to something else i am trying to jailbreak the itouch 2.2.1 2nd generation. I am using redsn0w-win_0.8 to jailbreak it. The problem is the redsnow-win thing won’t read iPhone1,1_2.1_5F136_Restore as a ipsw. help me out
It’s cos you have 2.2.1 and the firmware is for 2.1. Download the correct one from here: http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
also the firmware you have is for iPhone. Download the one that you currently have on your iPod eg ipod touch 2nd gen 2.2.1

yo i cant even get it to run or extract it keeps telling me to read the files help me dudes.
I have and iPod Touch 2nd Gen with firmware 3.1.3. I downloaded the “iPod touch 2G (3.1.3/7E18)” from http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
but whenever i get to the welcome screen, i have to browse for an ISPW, and when i choose the one i downloaded, “iPod2,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore” it tells me “Unable to recognize specified ISPW”
what do i do?
Well since you are simply updating to the latest 3.1.3 firmware, why not let Apple do it themselves by clicking update? If you don’t wanna do that, try downloading it again and SHIFT+Restoring once more.
