hacking-into-iphone-smsSome new information has come to light regarding the iPhone’s SMS app. A hole has been found in the system which allows malicious users to send malware via SMS to an unsuspecting victim and leave there device unusuable.

This is more bad news for Apple as recently a few more holes have been found in OSX where malware can be installed.

Charlie Miller, the finder of this hole, spoke at the SyScan conference in Singapore. He says this is a bad threat because among other things, the hacker can use the iPhone’s GPS to track down the person. They could also potentially turn on the microphone and eavesdrop on meeting or private conferences.

Apple have promised to fix this security issue by the end of July so Charlie said he wont release full details on the hack until after this but he will release it in all its glory at the Black Hat USA 2009 conference in Las Vegas.
